I am sure by now, if you have spent any time looking at my Instagram Feed or in my Stories, you know that I LOVE Bohemian Pizza in Litchfield, CT. It is about a 50 minute drive from our home, but we make the trip every chance we get. The boys like it because, well, pizza. I like it because, well, gluten-free pizza. However, this is not just ANY gluten-free pizza, it's cooked to perfection Still Riding Gluten Free Crust topped with some of the most creative and eclectic ingredients I have ever had. Two of my favorite flavors, shown below, are the Isabel and the Shroom. The Isabel is named after one of their most loyal customers and includes red sauce, mozzarella, roasted red peppers, roasted garlic, artichoke hearts, & caramelized onions. I added chicken to my Isabel to bump up the protein, but either way, it's freaking fantastic. The huge chunks of roasted garlic are the best part. The Shroom is also an excellent choice. Although I can no longer tolerate mushrooms, I know so sad, this used to be my go-to flavor. The Shroom has an olive oil base topped with mozzarella, goat cheese, caramelized onions, and sautéed mushrooms. YUM!
They are obviously known for their pizza, however, the rest of their menu is fantastic as well. Did I also mention, they have a dedicated gluten-free fryer? You know what that means, FRIES! Yup, I can get fries! Their basic fries come with a chipotle aioli, that in and of itself is worth it. The best part is that they do loaded fry specials. Shown below is their Pork Carnitas Fries I had during their Cinco De Mayo celebration. I would like to say that I controlled myself and ate a reasonable portion, but I did not. I ate every last bite and am not ashamed at all. It was that good.
Because we have to drive so far to get there, we normally do not drink any adult beverages. One day we will plan accordingly and partake, because they have some creative drink specials and have been told they are next level. We do, however, usually get dessert. Along with a house made dessert special, they also offer cupcakes locally sourced from Hardcore Sweet Cupcakes out of Watertown, winners of Food Network’s Cupcake Wars and featured on Cake Wars and Sugar Showdown. The flavors change periodically, but they make sure to offer at least one gluten-free and one vegan option every day. Shown above is their Birthday Cake flavor, which is a gluten-free funfetti cake topped with vanilla buttercream and rimmed with rainbow sprinkles. Funfetti is my favorite boxed cake flavor, so I was ecstatic when I saw this one. But my all time favorite cupcake was their gluten-free Citrus Champagne. Oh my goodness, that one was otherworldly! Blew my mind!
If you have not figured it out yet, HUGE Bohemian Pizza fan right here. I would say it is at least worth a 2-hour drive, if not more. You will not be disappointed!
